Description:
Heartwood ranges from pinkish-brown to deep red-brown color.  Grain is interlocked and produces ribbon stripes in quartered pieces.  Sipo has a very poor steam bending classification.
Working Properties:
Works well with only a moderate blunting effect on tooling.  A reduced cutting angle will reduce tearing the interlocked grain on quartered pieces.
Uses:
High-end furniture, boat building, interior molding, cabinetmaking, caskets, outdoor garden furniture, general construction, veneered plywood.
Durability:
Durable and resistant to preservative treatment
